Trainee Designer

We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Designer to join our Moira office. About Us ASFD Ltd is the design and engineering team of McMullen Facades. Our mission is to bring excellence and innovation to the cladding industry, delivering fully engineered faade solutions and making positive impacts to the built environment. With 500 staff across design, manufacturing and installation, we have offices in England, Northern Ireland, Switzerland and UAE.

Across the team we have over four decades of experience in the successful delivery of some of the most iconic projects in Europe and Middle East. ASFD and McMullen are part of the established JRL Group, providing integrated construction solutions and delivering complex real estate projects.

Today, the group encompasses 14 divisions and has a turnover in excess of £600m and growing. Your Role Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a key member of a Design Team responsible for several prestigious Faade and Cladding Installations. Produce high quality detailed drawings or 3D designs in line with Project Specifications ensuring all relevant standards and regulations are followed.

Produce detailed factory and site information packs using 3D manufacturing software for use during Manufacture and Installation. Assist other design members regarding technical support/guidance as required. Compile Bills of Materials and Material Schedules for use during Procurement. Attend and gain knowledge from internal training workshops. Your Skills Higher level apprenticeship or above in technical studies Experience in using 2D CAD software Knowledge of using 3D software Understanding of manufacturing and construction techniques (experience during study accepted).

Ability to confidently read and understand Technical Drawings. Awareness of Building Regulations and Quality Standards. Experience in using Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

Experience of working as part of a team, with ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Quality driven with a passion for excellence and high attention to detail. Ambitious individual with a desire to learn and progress within the team. Excellent communicator with a customer-oriented attitude. Fluent in English.
