Lead Manufacturing Engineer

This role will take full accountability for all manufacturing engineering activities in one or a combination of the following areas of responsibilities:

• Design, prove, implement and maintain production systems to deliver product on time, to quality and cost requirements
• Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, machine availability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste
• Drive product design for manufacture and assembly activities
• Drive product CAM/CAE activities
• Drive validation plans to ensure robust and comprehensive technical solutions
• Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales
• Analyse downtime, identify trends and develop solutions
• Ensure accuracy of manufacturing engineering procedures, documentation and systems data
• Deliver and drive continuous training and development
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
• Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for area of responsibility
• Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar environment, i.e. heavy engineering, automotive or aerospace.
• Experience of leading a team
• Experience of New Product Introduction, reworking design changes and upgrades through to production
• Thorough knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
• Working knowledge of Airbus and or Boeing systems and processes
• Knowledge of global completion in the cabin interiors industry
• Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD
• Relevant Manufacturing/Engineering degree. HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications will be considered where proven vocational specialist experience can be demonstrated.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
