About

the role

Based at the Walter Street Depot, the Fleet Unit is seeking motivated and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanics to assist and undertake corrective and preventative maintenance of Council's vehicle fleet. You will have experience in maintenance of a wide range of plant and equipment, particularly diesel engines. The hours of work for this position will range between 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Skills

and experience required to perform the role
  • Trade Certificate (Diesel Motor Mechanic) or similar as recognised by the State Training Board.
  • Experience in the repair and service of petrol and diesel motor vehicles including large vehicles such as garbage trucks and buses is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to be available on a roster basis for servicing of vehicles on a Saturday
  • The ability to provide on the job training to trainees and apprentices within the scope of expertise.
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence and Medium Rigid Vehicle Licence.
  • Heavy Rigid Licence is desirable.
