This is an exciting opportunity to start a career in Human Resources through a Level 3 HR apprenticeship. You will gain hands‑on experience across all aspects of the HR function while working towards a recognised qualification, supported by an experienced HR team and Wiltshire College.
The role will involve supporting the HR department across all three company sites and will require regular travel between the Bath and Devizes locations, providing broad exposure to HR activities in a busy and professional environment.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs an HR Apprentice, you will:
- Attend college as required to achieve the qualification associated with the apprenticeship
- Develop an understanding of the business, including its products, values and culture
- Learn and support the application of HR policies, procedures and processes
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including filing, scanning, uploading documents, emails and data entry
- Act as the first point of contact for initial HR enquiries, signposting queries as appropriate
- Maintain and update HR systems, including taking an active interest in the HR Information System (HRIS)
- Support recruitment and onboarding processes, including administration and coordination
- Assist with the coordination of training activities in line with the Company’s training policy
- Prepare presentations and supporting materials for management meetings and training sessions
- Collate and maintain HR data to support KPI reporting, ensuring accuracy and continuous improvement in data collection
- Work with the HR team to identify opportunities for process and technology improvements, supporting the move towards a paperless HR function (including exploring appropriate digital or AI tools)
- Promote effective employee communication, including maintaining notice boards
- Highly motivated and eager to learn

- Approachable and empathetic, with the ability to communicate with employees at all levels
- Able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks with support from the team
- GCSEs in Maths and English (Grades 4–9)
- An interest in Human Resources and people-focused work
- Basic understanding of HR or willingness to learn HR principles and legislation
- Good IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems
- Willingness to learn how to analyse and process data accurately for reporting purposes
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Ability to work across both the Bath and Devizes sites as required
- The apprentice will be employed at Cross Manufacturing and supported by Wiltshire College
- College attendance will be one day per week
- This is a Level 3 apprenticeship, typically lasting 24 months
- Upon successful completion, the apprentice will have the opportunity to apply for Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
- 37 Hours per week. There may be a requirement to work outside of core hours and weekend working, subject to working time directive.
