Night Shift Production Manager

Avondale Foods is a leading food manufacturing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses such as Marks & Spencer, Morrison’s and Waitrose in the UK.

The purpose of this role is to assist the General Manager in ensuring that maximum production efficiency and product quality are met while adhering to food safety regulations and hygiene procedures. To lead by example and ensure that you and your team are adhering to company policies and procedures in relation to Product Quality, Food Safety and Integrity.

• Maintain all documentation necessary for internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP
• Ensure all records and reports are up-to-date
• Lead the department during audits, addressing any issues / findings promptly
• Address all audit related issues relating to process and quality arising from internal and external customer complaints and audits.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans to address food safety and compliance
• Direct and supervise the activities of all staff creating a departmental culture of excellence, integrity and collaboration; implement a “do the right thing” mentality in all interactions
• Conduct scheduled training for team members on food safety practises and compliance requirements with appropriate sign-offs completed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate food safety risks with particular emphasis on lean boards
• Set and implement high standards of manufacturing and production processes maintaining efficient production schedules and use OEE’s to drive performance
• Plan labour costs by effectively managing holidays and staff rotas
• Control and manage packaging materials and labels
• Utilise AX, Autocoding, Sparc Systems in the production process
• Manage yield and waste by monitoring the use of raw materials and packaging and overseeing effective stock rotation and control
• Ensure accurate completion of production documents such as production records, wash tanks, start-up checks, knife control, scale checks, metal detections, etc.
• Lead by example by adhering to Company policies, in relation to Food Safety, Quality and Health & Safety
• Investigate, monitor & implement Company’s standards on Food Safety and Health and Safety when necessary
• Manage people confidently and fairly ensuring that internal procedures in relation to disciplinaries, grievances, probationary reviews, absence reviews etc are adhered to and actioned
• Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration ‘do the right thing’ approach in all interactions.
• Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience within a similar role in a food manufacturing environment
• IT Literate and proficient in MS applications
• Level 3 Food Safety
• Recognised qualifications in English and Maths – GCSE Grade C or equivalent
• Level 3 Health & Safety
