Techmet are recruiting for a Northern Ireland-based precision engineering and manufacturing company specialising in aerospace components. The business focuses on CNC machining, advanced manufacturing processes, and tooling solutions for high‑precision industries.

We are currently seeking a CNC Programming Engineer for aerospace manufacturing, producing offline CAM programs for 35‑axis machining of aluminium and titanium.

Location:

Portadown, Northern Ireland
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours:

Mon–Thurs 07:00–16:00, Fri 07:00–12:00
Salary: £45,000

Responsibilities and duties
  • Programming:
    Offline CNC programming of aerospace components on 3, 4, and 5‑axis machines using CAM software
  • Tooling:
    Selecting efficient tooling packages for each component
  • Machining:
    Developing machining strategies for cutting aluminium and titanium
  • Procedures:
    Verifying NC code using Vericut and engineering sign‑off procedures
  • Process documentation:
    Creating booklets and work instructions for machine set‑up and tool assembly
  • Components:
    Designing fixtures and work‑holding devices for components
  • ERP:
    Updating ERP systems with all relevant information for each component
  • Improvements:
    Working closely with Production and Quality to improve manufacturing methods and reduce costs
  • Projects:
    Assisting Marketing and Sales by designing manufacturing concepts for potential projects and supporting quotations
Qualifications & skills
  • Relevant third‑level qualification in STEM
  • Experience with CAM software, e.g., Mastercam
  • Knowledge of CNC machining strategies and processes
  • Desirable:
    Experience in hard‑metal manufacturing
