KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Provide guidance and support to fabrication and welding teams on quality standards and best practices Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of welds and fabricated components in accordance with applicable drawings, codes, and standards. Verify welding procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQ) and ensure compliance throughout the production process. Perform or coordinate NDT (e.g., DPI, MPI & RT) with third-party providers as required.
Maintain accurate inspection and test records, including weld maps, and full traceability documentation. Identify non-conformances, raise NCRs, and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Ensure inspection equipment is correctly calibrated, maintained, and used appropriately. Identify trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve quality performance |QUALIFICATION| Essential CSWIP 3.0 Visual Weld Inspector Desirable CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector NDT Level 2 certification Recognised Health & Safety training (e.g. IOSH, First Aid) Forklift Licence | EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE | Essential Minimum of 5 years hands-on welding experience, preferably in TIG welding.
Minimum of 2 years welding inspection experience within pipe fabrication and/or structural steel workshop environments. Working knowledge of welding standards and codes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and specifications Desirable Awareness of lean manufacturing / continuous improvement principles | ABILITIES & SKILLS | Essential Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify defects.
Ability to work independently and make informed quality decisions. Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage inspection records and documentation accurately. Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise across production, QA, and management teams.
