Are you an experienced Transport Planner who thrives in a busy operational environment?

This is an opportunity to join a growing logistics and warehousing business providing UK-wide full-load general haulage and backhaul operations, including the collection of import containers from major UK ports such as Tilbury, which are brought to Birmingham for de-stuffing, palletising, storage, and nationwide distribution.

The Role

You'll work as part of a collaborative planning team responsible for managing day-to-day fleet activity and supporting the Operations Officer and Transport Manager in maintaining exceptional service standards.

The role is varied, fast-paced and critical to ensuring efficient use of vehicles, drivers, and subcontractors while maintaining communication with customers and the warehouse team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule UK-wide full-load and container movements.
  • Allocate loads via Mandata TMS, monitor live progress and issue e-manifests.
  • Coordinate backhauls and subcontract work.
  • Liaise with customers on ETAs, service updates, and waiting-time charges.
  • Use R2C and Scania Telematics for compliance and vehicle tracking.
  • Collaborate with drivers and warehouse for loading/unloading coordination.
  • Participate in a shared out-of-hours on-call rota for overnight support.
About You
  • 3-5 years' experience in UK transport planning (full-load, container or general haulage).
  • Confident user of Mandata or similar TMS, R2C, and telematics systems.
  • Excellent UK geographical knowledge and route planning logic.
  • Calm, analytical, and solutions-focused under pressure.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Commercially aware, detail-driven, and proactive.
  • Aspiration to progress toward senior transport leadership roles.
Why Join
  • Long-established, growing logistics business with family values and professional standards.
  • Modern Euro 6 Scania fleet and 50,000 sq ft warehouse facility.
  • Supportive team culture and opportunities for career development.
