As a Design Technician, you will support the design team in the day-to-day running of the office, including design work on current products, providing technical support to external sales staff and taking ownership of the company New Engineering Request (NER) process. After training, you will be responsible for dealing with new internal product requests, product bill of material (BOM) changes, system development projects and assisting in answering technical queries, including creating customer drawings.
Whatyou'll be doing
- Be/become conversant with all company standard products and prevailing standards and specifications related to them.
- Generate engineering drawings for customer enquiries.
- Take ownership of the company NER system in response to customer requests for new products and product variations, utilising internal contacts to see the process through from start to finish.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of all technical drawings using 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawing software.
- Manipulate live data to create new parts, assemblies and BOMs.
- Assist in the preparation of responses to technical queries and the creation of laboratory reports, as required, using office systems and tools including spreadsheets and word processors.
- Communicate effectively with CMP internal and external personnel by telephone and email to provide technical and general support.
You will be numerate, with strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work. Experience in an office environment within an engineering discipline is required.
You will be experienced in using CAD software, ideally Solid Works, with experience of 3D modelling and generating 2D drawings.
If you have excellent communication and time management skills, are self-motivated and have good IT skills, particularly Word and Excel, and ideally knowledge of database packages or MRP systems, we would love to hear from you.

This position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis working dayshift. To provide employees with an improved work/life balance, CMP operates a 9-day fortnight (9/10), where staff work compressed hours and benefit from every other Friday as a day off.
