Civil Superintendent – East Kootenay Region
Cranbrook, BC | Full-Time

Milestone Contracting is establishing a long-term presence in the East Kootenay region and is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to join our growing team.

This role is based out of Cranbrook, BC, with projects located throughout the Kootenays. Travel between projects will be required and compensated.

This is more than a traditional Superintendent role. We are looking for a technically strong and emotionally mature leader who can independently lead field execution, strengthen developing leaders, reinforce Milestone’s culture, and help establish a stable long-term regional presence.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the growth and success of our East Kootenay operations while working closely with regional leadership and head office teams.

What You’ll Be Doing
As Superintendent, you will lead the day-to-day field execution of civil construction projects including underground utilities, municipal infrastructure, grading, earthworks, roadworks, and site servicing projects.

Responsibilities include:

Leading field operations safely, efficiently, and professionally

Coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and production sequencing

Managing schedules, productivity, quality, and site execution

Supporting and mentoring Foremen and developing field leaders

Collaborating closely with Project Management and regional leadership

Building strong working relationships with clients, inspectors, consultants, and subcontractors

Ensuring projects align with Milestone’s operational systems and standards

Utilizing technology, reporting systems, and planning tools effectively

Identifying and solving problems proactively while maintaining a calm and solutions-focused approach

Contributing to a strong, accountable, and team-oriented culture

What We’re Looking For
We are intentionally seeking someone who combines strong technical civil construction experience with professionalism, adaptability, mentorship capability, and strong communication skills.

The ideal candidate will bring:

Extensive civil construction experience in field leadership roles

Strong understanding of underground utilities, grading, production planning, and site coordination

Proven ability to lead crews and manage day-to-day construction execution

Experience mentoring and developing younger leaders

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

A collaborative and solutions-oriented leadership style

Comfort using technology, systems, reporting tools, and digital communication platforms

High accountability and professionalism

A growth-minded approach with a willingness to continuously improve

Local East Kootenay experience and relationships are considered a significant asset, including familiarity with:

Municipalities and inspectors

Regional subcontractors and suppliers

Local labour markets

Weather and seasonal construction impacts

Regional logistics and material supply considerations

Qualifications

10+ years of civil construction experience

5+ years in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Strong understanding of civil construction methods and sequencing

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Strong organizational and communication skills

Safety certifications considered an asset

Experience with municipal and infrastructure projects preferred
