(1 Position) Cranbrook

A passion for the environment, educating others, and working with people are essential qualities for the RDEK’s Communications Summer Student. From providing education about Extended Producer Responsibility programs to running summer camp activities for kids or sharing information about reducing, reusing and recycling at a local farmer’s market, environmental education and interpersonal communication are cornerstones of this position. This position will work within a team of two based out of our Cranbrook office.

As part of the Communications team, the successful candidate will have a reputation for being a dedicated worker who sees this position as an opportunity, not just a job; will value a team environment; and is an eager learner with a sense of confidence and ease in public situations.

Essential

Qualifications:

• Completed Grade 12 and are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution pursuing a Degree in Earth/Environmental Sciences or Education.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence, good driving record, and ability to drive in all conditions and during the day or night.
• Strong communication skills with references that can speak to your ability to work with the public.
• Sense of fun and ability to read an audience.
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to work evenings and weekends.

This is a temporary, full-time (up to 35 hours per week) Union position with an hourly rate of $25.59. The term of employment commences on or about May 4, 2026, and concludes on or about August 30, 2026.
