K-12 Indigenous Counsellor

Position: Full-Time K-12 Indigenous Counsellor Role
Become a pivotal force in Indigenous education with the District Indigenous Education Counsellor position for Grades K-12, based in Cranbrook and Elk Valley. This ongoing, full-time opportunity begins September 8, 2026, emphasizing holistic student development.

Candidates should hold a Master’s Degree recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch in Counselling or Psychology. Formal teaching experience at the K-12 level is essential, and preference is given to applicants with Indigenous heritage or training.

Your role will support various communities within School District No. 5.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement counseling programs for students

• Integrate Indigenous cultural practices into education

• Work closely with families and community organizations

• Promote student wellness and resilience

• Ensure a safe and supportive educational environment

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in a relevant field

• BC Teacher Certification is preferred

• K-12 level teaching/experience

• Knowledge of Indigenous health perspectives is beneficial

• Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
