Full-Time Alternate Education Teacher

Become an Alternate Education Teacher at Laurie Middle School in Cranbrook, BC. This full-time position focuses on grades 7-9 education and requires BC Teacher Certification.

School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay) is seeking a dedicated teacher for a continuing contract beginning September 8, 2026. Candidates must have formal training and experience in both Alternate Education and Intermediate level subjects. Preferred applicants will hold BC Teacher Certification and may also possess experience in Learning Services or Inclusive Education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Alternate Education for grades 7-9

• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to student needs

• Assess student progress and provide feedback

• Collaborate with staff for inclusive education strategies

• Engage with the school community and stakeholders

Requirements:

• BC Teacher Certification preferred

• Degree and experience in Alternate Education

• Training in Intermediate level education required

• Additional qualifications in Learning Services an asset

• Commitment to on-site teaching and continuing education
