The OpportunityOur NGTL South Natural Gas Operations Group is currently seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician to join our Glacier Valley Area team out of the Cranbrook, BC office.
Reporting to the Glacier Valley Area Manager, this EIC Controls Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment (including assigned electronic, electrical, pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems, instrumentation, and process equipment like control valves, gas generators, power turbines, compressors and PLC & DCS control systems) in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will also be required to perform tasks from other disciplines (eg. pipeline and measurement).
This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program.
The regular work schedule for this position will be:- Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day;
Friday off - Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday
- Work on a team of high-performance EIC, mechanical and pipeline technicians to move gas on large-diameter pipelines
- Perform installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on compressor station equipment, and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required
- Conduct routine maintenance on gas turbine packages, gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
- Troubleshoot, test, and maintain shutdown devices, fire and gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, relief and Over Pressure Protection devices, control valves, PLC's and control systems
- Install and configure software in control systems
- Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
- Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
- Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low/medium complexity projects including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control
- Complete all administrative functions related to position and duties
- Maintain core operational task qualifications
- Provide coaching, mentoring and training to other personnel
- High School Diploma
- 5 years of related Industry experience
- Journeyman Red Seal Electrician certification
- Journeyman Red Seal Electrician certification and Journeyman Instrumentation certification
- 10 years of years of related Industry experience
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and SAP experience
- Previous experience with high pressure natural gas
- Previous experience with gas generators, power turbines and compressors
- Previous PLC experience
- Current with technological advances in the compression field
- Proven excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home (estimated up 15% of work schedule)
- Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
