About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic Specialty Chemical Engineer to join their innovative product development team in Kimberley . This role involves the research, design, and optimization of processes for unique, high-value chemical products. You will work on challenging projects that require creative problem-solving and a deep understanding of chemical synthesis and formulation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background and practical experience in developing specialty chemicals, with a keen eye for market trends and customer needs.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for a blend of hands-on laboratory work and collaborative remote planning sessions, supporting innovation and efficient project execution.
- Lead the development and scale-up of new specialty chemical formulations and processes.
- Conduct laboratory experiments to optimize reaction conditions, yields, and product properties.
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions to ensure consistent product quality.
- Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and sales teams to align product development with market requirements.
- Develop technical documentation, including process descriptions and safety data sheets.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies in specialty chemicals.
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- 5+ years of experience in the development and production of specialty chemicals.
- Strong knowledge of organic synthesis, formulation science, and process scale-up.
- Experience with analytical techniques used for characterization of chemical products.
- Proficiency in project management and statistical analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective in both in-person and remote settings.
