About the Role
Our client is seeking a sharp and strategic Category Buyer to manage procurement for key product categories within the FMCG sector in Kimberley . This role is pivotal in ensuring the cost-effective and timely sourcing of high-quality products that meet consumer demand and company standards. You will be responsible for supplier negotiation, relationship management, and driving category performance through intelligent purchasing decisions.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a keen understanding of the FMCG market, and a commitment to operational excellence.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned FMCG product categories to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve optimal terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring adherence to contracts and quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including category managers and operations, to meet product requirements and demand forecasts.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, specifically within the FMCG industry.
- Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation and cost reduction.
- Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and market trends affecting FMCG products.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
