Job Summary
The Sexualized Assault Support Services Worker provides support to individuals who have experienced sexualized assault.
This position is a short term position from August 31, 2026
- March 31, 2027.
14hrs/week
Reports toClinical Supervisor
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Provide consultation and work collaboratively, where appropriate, with other local agencies that provide services to clients who have been victims of sexualized assault, childhood sexualized abuse, family violence, and other power/gender-based crimes.
- Provide crisis response within 72 hours of a Sexualized Assault; this may include hospital callouts, referral calls or calls from the RCMP/Police Based Victim Services team.
- Provide transportation to clients.
- Assist clients in safety planning.
- Provide clients with information regarding reporting options, including third-party reporting.
- Provide support and direction on accessing victim support.
- Providing support and direction on the criminal justice system navigation.
- Provide support services to women based on a feminist perspective.
- Refer to other services when clients’ needs are beyond the scope of this program.
- Advocate on a client’s behalf when necessary.
- Maintain accurate reports and records on clients, and ensure that all required documentation is complete.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related human service field.
- Experience in a role that provided support to sexualized assault survivors.
- Trained in Trauma-informed practice techniques.
- Cultural sensitivity training.
Skills and Abilities
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Good organization, time, and general management skills.
- Knowledge of group processes and facilitation techniques.
- The ability to participate in group supervision and debriefing methods with the community services team.
- A thorough understanding of trauma.
- A thorough understanding of abuse/violence and resistance to abuse/violence and the social/emotional impacts of violence.
- Ability to develop a mutually respectful partnership with clients and their families to help clients gain the necessary skills and confidence to address their issues and challenges.
- Conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.
- Ability to work in partnership with other team members.
- Ability to set limits/boundaries and maintain your position as a helping practitioner and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the individuals served and other family members.
