Assistant Boys Designer

Dreamwave is seeking a talented, motivated, and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join our Design team. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative individual with a strong foundation in fashion/apparel design who is interested in building a career within the exciting world of licensed character kids apparel.

Our division specializes in children’s swimwear, outerwear, and sleepwear, working with some of the most recognizable entertainment and character properties in the market. The ideal candidate will have a strong design eye, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to translate creative concepts into commercially relevant product.

• Assist the Design team in the trending and development of seasonal kids swimwear, outerwear, and sleepwear collections.
• Assist with the development of color palettes, prints, patterns, graphics, trims, and garment details.
• Create presentation boards and product concepts for internal reviews, retail presentations, and licensor submissions.
• Assist designers with revisions and updates based on internal, retailer, and licensor feedback.
• Maintain organized seasonal artwork, CADs, colorways, and design files.
• Research current kids fashion, color, graphic, character, and retail trends.
• Work closely with Design, Merchandising, Production, and Licensing teams throughout the product development process.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
• Good understanding of garment construction, color, print, pattern, and apparel design. l.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Creative, motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
• Ability to take direction, incorporate feedback, and work in a fast-paced design environment.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.
• Previous internship or 1+ years of experience in the apparel industry is a plus, but talented entry-level candidates with a strong portfolio are encouraged to apply.

This position is ideal for an emerging designer who wants hands-on experience across multiple apparel categories and exposure to the complete design and product development process within the licensed kids market.
