- Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the course description in the catalog and the approved course syllabus.
- Deliver instruction in line with the schedule of classes, using interactive approaches, technologies, and methods when possible.
- Incorporate an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into course content.
- Use the library as part of course work and apply writing as an instructional method.
- Utilize computing and other academic technologies in courses when possible.
- Attend and meet all scheduled class meetings.
- Notify the Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate grade and attendance records and submit required reports to the Dean/Assistant Dean or Student Records Office.
- Submit grades by the published deadlines.
- Participate in assessment of learning outcomes and use assessment results in course planning.
- Plan in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment needed for successful delivery of assigned classes.
- Submit progress reports on students for counseling, athletic oversight, and record keeping purposes, and discuss any concerns requiring special attention with counselors and other appropriate personnel.
- Follow College policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate willingness to teach in person and/or be certified to teach online.
- Provide for out-of-class interaction with students.
- Be willing to use alternative educational delivery systems and instructional techniques.
- Master’s Degree required.
- Some teaching experience required.
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates.
- Demonstrated mastery of subject matter of the discipline.
- Certification or license as needed and appropriate.
- Fundamental competency in the use of information technology.
- Commitment to continual professional growth and development.
- Commitment to continued assessment of the teaching-learning process and its outcomes.
- Commitment to incorporating the library, computers, writing, and culturally diverse perspectives into the curriculum.
- Knowledge of competency-based education.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment based on scheduled activity.
- Some physical effort required, including occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- Some travel required.
