Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering has an opening for a dynamic Experienced Naval Architect/Engineer in our Construction Engineering Services (CES) Group, to support our fleet of over 55 large construction vessels. The ideal candidate will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe.

Kiewit has the premier marine construction fleet in North America and intends to keep it that way through the modernization of our existing vessels, and construction of new vessels. This is an opportunity to be a major part of that effort, working directly with the construction teams.

Our Construction Engineering Services (CES) Group consists of innovative design engineers whose expertise in designing and building temporary structures adds value to the success of our clients’ projects. Additionally, CES provides on‑site engineering and coordination support through leading and collaborating with Kiewit’s construction teams.

Our CES group supports design‑build tasks that include:
Bridge erection & demolition, Cofferdam design, Critical crane lifts, Erection sequencing & staged construction analysis, Hoisting and jacking, Deep foundations and dewatering, Excavation support, Marine engineering, Pile drive analysis, Ductwork analysis, Falsework design, Temporary bridge & trestle, mooring and berthing facility design, CES estimate support, Working surface design, marine fleet & equipment maintenance and modernization, and On‑site engineering support.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering’s Design Build Management team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design‑build projects to manage their multi‑disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our construction‑driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design‑build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk.

Location

This position is based out of our New York City offices, with travel to our Cranford, NJ marine yard.

Responsibilities
  • Perform design reviews and evaluate constructability. Independently performs work that requires conventional engineering but may also perform more complex engineering work with higher‑level technical supervision. Conduct technical evaluations of structural analysis and load calculations to ensure sound design and compliance meeting requirements.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
