Job Description & How to Apply Below
Are you a proactive professional with a passion for safety, training, and sports excellence? We are seeking a dynamic Health & Safety Training and Sports Centre Duty Manager to play a pivotal role in the safety and operational success of our vibrant school community and commercial sports facilities.
This unique hybrid role combines high-level first aid training delivery, emergency response, and hands-on facility management. Whether you are leading a "First Aid at Work" course or ensuring our rugby fixtures have elite pitch-side support, your work will directly impact the well-being of our students, staff, and the wider community.
The Role at a Glance
As a key member of the operations team, you will bridge the gap between technical safety training and active sports management. You will be the "go-to" expert for first aid compliance while ensuring our Sports Centre remains a premier destination for both school and commercial users.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead Trainer & First Aid Provision
* Deliver Excellence:
Lead and deliver First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, and Rugby-specific first aid training across the site.
* Compliance & Equipment:
Manage all first aid kits, resources, and defibrillators, ensuring the school remains fully compliant and stocked.
* Coordination:
Ensure a robust schedule of training courses is maintained throughout the academic year for internal staff and external commercial clients.
2. Emergency Response & Pitch-side Support
* First Responder:
Act as a primary first aider on-site and potentially within the local community.
* Elite Sport Support:
Provide pitch-side paramedic/first aid services during rugby fixtures, collaborating closely with the Medical Centre and pitch-side doctors.
3. Sports Centre Operations (Duty Management)
* Facility Oversight:
Manage the opening/closing of facilities (including the pool) and ensure high standards of cleanliness and equipment setup.
* Fitness Leadership:
Instruct gym users on safe techniques and lead weekly fitness classes.
* Commercial Growth:
Support the Sports Centre Administrator by managing bookings, responding to enquiries, and producing promotional newsletters to drive commercial activity.
4. Health & Safety Compliance
* Conduct and review risk assessments and emergency action plans.
* Ensure all activities align with current legislation and school policies.
What We Are Looking For

Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in delivering First Aid and/or Health & Safety training.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage administrative tasks and booking systems.

Desirable (But Not Essential):
* NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) or Pool Plant Operator certificate.

* Note:
We are committed to professional development. If you don’t have these qualifications yet, we will support you in gaining them!
