Project Accountant

J.R. Vinagro Corporation, a well-established company in the construction, demolition, and environmental services industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Project Accountant to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while working collaboratively with project managers, operations, and the accounting department.

• Manage and maintain financial records for multiple construction projects.
• Monitor project budgets, expenses, commitments, and overall financial performance.
• Work closely with project managers to track project costs and identify discrepancies.
• Prepare and process project-related billing, including progress billings and AIA payment applications.
• Review and reconcile subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and vendor payments.
• Track change orders, contract values, and project cost adjustments.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions related to assigned projects.
• Maintain accurate job cost reporting and assist with monthly financial reconciliations.
• Monitor project profitability and provide financial updates to management.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures and financial reporting.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company accounting procedures.
• Collaborate with internal departments to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.

• Previous accounting experience required; construction industry experience strongly preferred.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with job costing, project billing, and construction financial reporting.
• Familiarity with AIA billing, retainage, and change orders preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with project managers and other departments.
• Experience with construction ERP or project management software is a plus.
