Job Title: Substitute Teacher

Duration: 3 months

Location: Cranston, RI 02920

Payrate: $17.00/hr (W-2)

Shift Timing: Day 35 hrs/week

The role of the Substitute Teacher is to supervise the classroom and teach the lesson left by an absent teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well‑being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, and teaching the provided curriculum. In the absence of the teacher on a long‑term basis, the substitute teacher is expected to execute all duties of the teacher relevant to training, including but not limited to instructional delivery, assessment, grading, and collaboration with teacher colleagues.

• Supervise the classroom and teach the lesson left by an absent teacher.
• Ensure the well‑being and safety of students, take attendance, and maintain a functioning classroom.
• Report to the School Principal.
• Teach the provided lesson plan.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom (straighten chairs, tables, clear board, etc.).
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guide learning toward achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in lesson plans.
• Employ instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the School Principal.

• Bachelor's degree in science education or another related field.

• Current RIDE certification in science education.
