Pariseault Builders is seeking an effective and collaborative Project Accountant to focus on the financial management of individual construction projects. This role partners with the project management teams ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create new project job number in construction financial software, ensuring coding accuracy and naming consistency.
  • Takes ownership of reviewing and approving subcontractor pay applications, lien waivers, and lien grids to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to posting by being the “final” approver in the construction financial system workflow.
  • Prepare the company invoices and send the final invoices to the client on a timely and consistent cycle. This includes creating draft invoices and scheduling time with applicable APM/PM, ensuring that all costs that should be included in the invoice are captured in the company financial system by reviewing Subcontractor Summary detail and calling subcontractors when bills are missing.
  • Prepares and compiles the necessary invoice backup based on contractual agreement to ensure timely payment to company.
  • Monitor job cost allocations, ensuring expenses are correctly coded to each project. (Commitments are properly attached to invoices)
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor forecasts and eliminate negative or duplicative commitments.
  • Collaborate with operations and accounting teams to ensure consistency and accuracy across all projects financial data.
  • Maintain compliance with company accounting standards and client contract requirements.
  • Track project billings, subcontractor billings, receivables, and retainage to ensure compliance with internal processes and SOPs.
  • Utilize and maintain company established digital filing systems to ensure easy document retrieval and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and clients to collect and track insurance certificates and other compliance items.
  • Support onboarding of subcontractors, vendors and customers, confirming required forms and compliance documents are current and valid.
  • Participate in scheduled check runs to gain proficiency in all aspects of the process.
  • Serve as a backup for the weekly check run, demonstrating the ability to independently and accurately complete all required steps when needed.
  • Work closely with Finance Administrators, Operations, and the Finance Manager to ensure all project financial data is timely, accurate, and reconciled.
  • Recommend efficiencies within role and document such in a standardized format. This may include but is not limited to billing, cost tracking, and reporting workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction accounting/finance administration or construction project financial coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong financial aptitude, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion with sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of construction financial software and familiarity with project workflows.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
  • Standard work hours with flexibility during bidding deadlines.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods and review large sets of plans and documents.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, phone, or writing.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands.
  • Occasional job site walking.
  • Occasionally exposed to heat or cold on job site visits.
