Pharmacy Managers support novel program awareness, onboard newly hired team members and recognize colleagues for their success.
They consistently exhibit best practices when working the bench, providing patients with meaningful counseling and abiding by all legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Live our purpose by helping manage and improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling and immunizing practices.
- Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow‑up.
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team to collaborate with the patient’s total healthcare team and proactively resolve insurance and medication issues.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; identify, engage and support technicians to learn to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by coaching the team to follow inventory best practices, with special focus on protecting cold chain products.
- Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding for the store and district, ensuring all trainees are on track for timely completion of required training and licensure.
- Ensure pharmacy operations remain fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations at all times; escalating issues or concerns to the Rx DL for additional support if/as needed.
- Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues willing to work in the pharmacy, and ensure those colleagues are on track for timely completion of all required training for licensure.
- Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (where applicable), manage performance through direct observation, peer and team feedback, and communicate annual performance reviews and close gaps as needed.
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive and engaging team dynamic; write or appropriately delegate the pharmacy schedule.
- Regularly review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps, including workflow, service, patient care and compliance.
- Establish a culture of safety, empowerment and inclusion so the pharmacy team feels valued; build psychological safety by opening the door for feedback and taking relevant action.
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills for the job as the industry evolves, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients.
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible; empower the pharmacy team to provide holistic care at every step of the patient care journey.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, CVS Health policies and procedures to support patient safety, controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, protect patient privacy and maintain a safe and inclusive workplace for colleagues.
