Position SummaryThe Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Operator I is responsible for preparation and operation of assigned CNC machines, including lathes and mills. They perform machining functions such as cutting, deburring, balancing, drilling, boring and broaching of materials used in manufacturing different product components. The CNC Machine Operator I follows standard practices and procedures to ensure that product components are machined accurately and to proper specifications.

- 100% adherence to processes and material usage, no deviations
- Perform basic setup and operation of assigned computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
- Produce product components in accordance with blueprints, engineered drawings, Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS), and Bills of Material (BOM).
- Review job information in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system daily to determine orders to process.
- Maintain inventory of materials needed for production orders.
- Determine tooling requirements and setup for machined procedures.
- Mount and secure tooling and workpiece on the machine.
- Select and install cutting tools within the machine.
- Load pre-programmed machine commands into the controller.
- Use proper machining methods and sequences and perform preventive maintenance for smooth and efficient operations.
- Run machine and change tooling and setup as required.
- Adjust machine controls to perform tool offset and correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Perform periodic checks and daily routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Inspect parts after completion of each operation to ensure they meet drawing specifications, tolerances and quality standards.
- Place finished parts in proper bins.
- Rotate and operate different assigned machines as production needs require.
- Move materials as needed for machining.
- Ensure maximum output for work area; manage time effectively to meet strict time deadlines and production volumes.
- Visually inspect parts for quality and report any issues to Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Update the ERP for work performed.
- Maintain required documentation as directed.
- Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and any unusual conditions to Team Lead and/or Supervisor.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition; ensure equipment is in good operating condition.
- Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.
- Adhere to all safety policies and wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
- Graduate of a trade school or vocational program preferred
- CNC certification preferred
- 1+ years of CNC operator experience preferred
- Competent to operate computer and complete basic data entry in systems
- Must successfully learn specific responsibilities as assigned and adhere to production procedures
- Proficient and functioning in job responsibilities and able to attain Manufacturing Process Sheet (MPS) training sign-off within 90 days
- Ability to read engineered drawings and blueprints
- Physical dexterity to manipulate hand tools and power tools
- Ability to push, pull, lift and/or move materials of up to 30 lbs; capable of using hoists for materials over 30 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity, including standing and lifting
- Capable of following verbal and/or written instruction
- Good communication skills with the ability to work within a team setting
- Attention to detail is essential for success
- Well organized
This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
This position reports into the site every work day.
