Environmental Specialist

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Lab & Onsite Support Services (Lab/OSS) team. As an Environmental Specialist, you will support our clients on-site by managing their hazardous waste programs & projects, utilizing state & federal regulations.

This position reports to the Operations Manager. It is based on-site at client locations in the Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts area, with reporting from our Cranston, RI office.

Responsibilities:

Develop understanding of OSHA regulations and Triumvirate’s Health and Safety practices.

Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including federal/state waste documentation.

Handle hazardous waste containers safely on client sites and manage waste loading/unloading.

Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections.

Perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits for clients.

Provide outstanding customer service by supporting clients with innovative solutions.

Develop expertise in state and federal regulations (e.g., RCRA, DOT, OSHA) to ensure compliance.

Manage spill response measures, including assessment and cleanup.

Participate in rotating on-call emergency response duties.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hazardous waste industry or relevant military experience.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies.
Ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours (Monday-Friday).
Capability to complete a 2-3 year professional development program in hazardous waste management.
This role involves handling hazardous chemicals and biological waste, requiring personal protective equipment and safety sensitivity.
Must be able to report to Cranston, RI within 1 hour during emergency shifts.
Valid US driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Consent to background checks, drug screening, and physical assessments.
Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
Ability to lift 60 pounds regularly.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant industry experience.
Previous customer service experience.
Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40-hour certification.

Starting pay range: $24 - $25 USD per hour. Actual pay may vary based on experience and other factors.
