TPF Recruitment is proud to represent a small, well-established independent firm based in Crawley that is looking to welcome a new member to their friendly and professional team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper or Junior Accountant seeking a step up into a Senior Bookkeeper or Accounts Assistant position within a supportive, growing practice.
About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper to join our client's finance team. This is a part-time position, working approximately 24 hours per week across four days (Monday to Thursday).
The role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working with numbers, has strong accounting skills, and can manage financial records accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, assisting in the preparation of financial reports, and supporting the wider finance department to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and complete bank reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with tax filings
- Support the preparation of management reports and financial statements
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors when required
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Junior Accountant
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as Xero, Quick Books, MYOB, Sage, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Business (AAT / ACCA part-qualified or equivalent preferred)
- Proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ethical standards and discretion when handling confidential information
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
