Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - SEN Support

1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 9 SEN Support

Independent SEN School | Crawley

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Term-Time Only

Hours:

8:00am – 4:00pm | Start: ASAP

An independent SEN school in Crawley is looking to appoint a caring, resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 9 pupil with Autism and a history of early developmental trauma.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a bright, humorous and engaging young person who responds well to consistent, positive support. The successful candidate will build strong, trusting relationships and provide emotional and behavioural support to help the pupil remain regulated, focused and fully engaged in learning.

The ideal candidate will be:
  • Patient, calm and emotionally resilient
  • Able to offer consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Skilled in building trust and positive relationships
  • Confident supporting pupils with Autism and emotional needs
  • Passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child’s education
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support across all lessons to help the student remain focused and comfortable in the learning environment.
  • Implement strategies that support emotional regulation, routine, and positive behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to deliver a tailored support plan.
  • Promote a safe and structured environment to help the student feel secure and valued.
Must have:
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Passion to support and empower children and young people
  • DBS on the Updates Service or willingness to obtain one
  • Commitment to safeguarding students and young people
