Salary: £40,000 – £45,000, depending on experience

Position Overview

A specialist manufacturer of bespoke automation and special‑purpose machinery seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop automated machinery and robotic systems using Solid Works. The role involves creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, and supporting new product development and continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical components, fabricated assemblies, machined parts, and pneumatic systems.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials.
  • Support new product development, continuous improvement, and technical problem‑solving activities.
  • Work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and production teams.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Assist with machine build, testing, and commissioning activities when required.
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in machinery, automation, robotics, or special‑purpose equipment environments.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software, especially Solid Works.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes – machining, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and BOMs.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems and automated machinery is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Remuneration & Benefits
  • Salary £40,000 – £45,000, DOE.
  • Standard working week:
    Monday to Friday.
