The project scope includes planning, design, integration and delivery of major airfield infrastructure, buildings, systems and associated peripheral infrastructure.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met.
“This position is designated as part‑time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.”
Major Responsibilities- Schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group including preparation of original designs, layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways, railroads, etc.
- Participate in the design, development and modification of Civil/Structural components utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Checklist (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
- Design structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics and materials engineering.
- Determine the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements.
- Originate and check structural engineering deliverables, including steel and concrete calculations, specifications and material requisitions.
- Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas and possible solutions.
- Analyze and report on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take‑offs for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
- Complete Civil/Structural documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and relevant experience.
- Career‑level position within field.
- Considered skilled and proficient in discipline.
- Professional with an understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues.
