As an HGV Class 2 Minor Civils Engineer at Lanesgroup, you will play a crucial role in our operations by overseeing and executing various civil engineering projects. What you'll do
  • Operate HGV Class 2 vehicles to transport materials and equipment to various job sites, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with all road regulations.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of minor civil engineering projects, including drainage works, road repairs, and utility installations.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and project managers to ensure that all work is carried out according to project specifications and timelines.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess project progress and identify any potential issues or safety hazards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including daily logs and reports on materials used and labor hours.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on project status and address any concerns that may arise.
  • Ensure that all equipment and vehicles are maintained in good working order, reporting any faults or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, promoting a culture of safety within the team and on-site.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to civil engineering and HGV operations.
  • Support the team in achieving project goals by being flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including risk assessments and method statements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in project delivery.
Requirements
  • Valid HGV Class 2 driving license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in civil engineering or construction, preferably in a minor works capacity.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to construction and civil engineering.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using technology and software relevant to project management and reporting.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor as required on job sites.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various locations as needed.
Nice to have
  • Previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment.
  • Relevant certifications in health and safety, such as CSCS or CPCS.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in civil engineering.
