Design Assistant – Telecoms Design Team

We are looking for a motivated Design Assistant to join our Telecoms Design Team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone with strong CAD skills, good attention to detail and an interest in developing a career in telecoms design within an engineering and infrastructure environment.

The successful candidate will support experienced designers and engineers in the production of CAD drawings, design documentation and project deliverables. The role will initially focus on drawing production, amendments, document control and design support, while providing structured exposure to telecoms systems, technical standards and project delivery processes.

Key duties will include:

· Producing and updating CAD drawings for telecoms design projects.

· Assisting with layout drawings, schematics, cable routing drawings, equipment location plans and mark-ups.

· Supporting drawing updates following surveys, design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.

· Maintaining drawing registers, revision histories and document control records.

· Checking drawings for accuracy, consistency, completeness and compliance before issue.

· Learning the telecoms design process, standards and technical documentation requirements.

We are looking for someone who has:

· Proficiency, or demonstrable aptitude, in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.

· Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical drawings.

· Good organisational skills and an understanding of document control.

· A willingness to learn engineering processes, standards and project requirements.

· Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

· Competence in Microsoft Office applications.

Previous experience in an engineering, construction, infrastructure, rail, utilities or building services environment would be advantageous, but is not essential. A qualification in engineering, design, CAD or a related discipline would also be beneficial.
