Salary: £33,176 - £40,456 per annum (including sleep-ins)
Are you a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker looking for a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference? Join a leading specialist provider of children’s residential care in Crediton, offering a supportive environment to help children and young people aged 8-16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a full-time, permanent position within a modern semi-independent residential home.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and positive atmosphere for residents, empowering them to develop socially, emotionally, and practically. Working a shift pattern of 9 am - 10 pm (followed by a sleep-in) and 7 am - 9 am, you will be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering high-quality care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Encourage Independence & Development:
Support children and young people in developing life skills and engaging in meaningful activities to promote their independence. - Maintain a Supportive Environment:
Act as a positive role model, fostering a homely and friendly atmosphere within the home. - Manage Challenging Behaviours:
Confidently support residents through difficult behaviours, de‑escalating situations with empathy and experience. - Safeguarding & Welfare:
Uphold safeguarding standards, maintain detailed care plans, and contribute to risk assessments to protect residents’ wellbeing. - Promote Well‑being:
Provide tailored support to address residents’ emotional and practical needs, enhancing their overall quality of life. - Build Relationships & Collaborate:
Work closely with staff, external professionals, parents, and social workers, often leading in communication efforts. - Mentorship & Guidance:
Support and mentor less experienced team members, sharing your knowledge to develop team skills. - Documentation & Reporting:
Accurately complete reports, logs, and documentation to support care planning, reviews, and audits.

Essential Requirements- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Children’s Residential Support Worker or similar role working with young people with EBD
- Full UK Driving Licence (transport of residents is a key part of the role)
- Over the age of 21
- Ability to reliably commute to Crediton
- QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Fully Funded QCF Level 4 Children & Young People
