Overview

Ava Med Inc is a healthcare staffing agency that staffs all California State Correctional Facilities. We have an urgent need for a Pharmacist to work on a full‑time assignment at the correctional facility located in Crescent City, CA.

Schedule:

Monday‑Friday 8:00 a.m.‑4:30 p.m.
Rate: $65 /hr
Status: 1099 / independent contractor

• Review and verify prescription/medication orders from the Pharmacist‑in‑Charge, CEO/CME, or authorized CDCR prescribers for completeness, correctness, authenticity, and legality.
• Assess prescription/medication orders against the patient’s medical profile for improper drug selection, incorrect dosage, drug interactions, dosage form, and delivery system.
• Check prescriptions for compliance with the CDCR Formulary and refer non‑formulary requests for approval as required.
• Manage or directly prepare, manufacture, compound, and dispense drugs and pharmaceutical preparations.
• Manage or directly perform computer order entry and type prescription labels.
• Manage or directly fill prescription/medication orders and prepare or check local‑volume admixtures as required.
• Provide consultations to CDCR medical staff, the Medical Authorization Review Committee, and discharge consultations as required.
• Supervise and directly maintain records of drugs, poisons, and narcotics as required by federal and state laws.
• Supervise and directly maintain records of drugs, poisons, and chemicals received, on hand, and dispensed.
• Implement and/or maintain medication delivery systems in accordance with directives from the CDCR system‑wide P&T Committee.
• Assist in the preparation of estimates for requisition of drugs required.
• Monitor and instruct Pharmacy Technicians in standard and routine phases of the work as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
