Marketing & Outreach Manager

Reports To:

Executive Director

Time Commitment: 40 hours per week (full-time)

Compensation: $24-$28 per hour (based on experience), health and wellness stipend, paid vacation/sick leave, holiday pay, phone stipend.

Organizational Overview

The Del Norte & Tribal Lands Community Food Council (DNATL CFC) is a regional nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the food system across Del Norte County and Tribal lands. Founded in 2010 by local community members responding to urgent gaps in access to healthy food, DNATL CFC has grown into a trusted leader in community-driven food system transformation. We work collaboratively with farmers, ranchers, Tribal leaders, youth, and diverse community partners to improve nutrition security, expand local food production, and build an equitable and resilient regional food economy.

Our programs focus on stakeholder engagement, nutrition and garden education, workforce development, and strengthening the local food supply chain through improved infrastructure and market access. At our core, DNATL CFC is committed to ensuring that all community members—across cultures, geographies, and generations—have consistent access to healthy, local foods and a voice in shaping the systems that support them.

Position Summary

The Marketing & Outreach Manager leads DNATL CFC’s communication, public engagement, and storytelling efforts. This position develops and implements marketing strategies, oversees digital platforms, creates promotional materials, and coordinates outreach activities. The Manager ensures DNATL CFC’s mission, programs, and impact are clearly and consistently communicated in a culturally respectful and community-centered manner.

Key Responsibilities Marketing, Promotion and Brand Development
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies, including seasonal plans aligned with organizational needs.
  • Create and distribute promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, and digital content.
  • Maintain and update DNATL CFC’s website, ensuring accuracy and user-friendly design.
  • Manage and grow DNATL CFC’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, and others).
  • Prepare press releases, public service announcements (PSAs), and media communications.
  • Ensure consistent branding across print and digital channels.
  • Oversee subcontracted communications and marketing vendors (e.g., web developers, media specialists).
  • Support the development of print and digital communication channels for members, partners, and staff.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for organizational campaigns and community initiatives.
  • Track communications and outreach metrics, preparing reports for leadership, partners, and funders.
  • Manage the marketing and outreach budget responsibly.
Outreach & Community Engagement
  • Promote DNATL CFC’s mission, programs, and accomplishments through ongoing outreach activities.
  • Plan and coordinate tabling events, workshops, public presentations, and special events.
  • Maintain outreach calendars, communication schedules, and community contact lists.
  • Represent DNATL CFC professionally and respectfully at community events and meetings.
  • Support program directors with outreach-related tasks as assigned.
Supervision & Collaboration
  • Supervise interns, volunteers, or staff supporting outreach or marketing functions.
  • Work closely with leadership and program teams to align messaging and support program communication needs.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional and positive communication with the public and partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in marketing and/or outreach.
  • Ability to make independent decisions consistent with DNATL CFC’s mission and goals.
  • Experience working with office equipment, computers, phones, and software systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Google Workspace Suite.
