Our client is a family owned and operated company. They are a modern trucking company, blending old-school trucking with digital technology. The company has been in business since 2016 and servicing customers in retail, food, and e commerce industries including Fortune 500 corporations, and currently operates over 200 units of equipment.
Our client is a transportation company servicing 48 states and operating out of 3 terminals in Philadelphia, PA, California, and headquartered in Chicago, IL specializing in Truckload, Less-Than-Truckload, and Expedited services.
This company is a premier third-party logistics provider and logistics management company delivering above industry service along with cost‑saving transportation solutions throughout North‑America. They are Canadian Authorized and Haz Mat Certified, and a newly developed brokerage division.
Director of Brokerage Sales & OperationsOur client is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable individual to oversee all brokerage & asset‑based operations for their growing organization. This position is responsible for leading a team, growing the brokerage arm of the company, and selling the company’s service offerings to potential clients. This person should be a subject expert on the 3PL industry, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of market and historical trends, and ideally has experience in the Haz Mat and / or Pharmaceutical space.
The ideal candidate is an adaptable and polished leader who has a clear vision of growth and improvement for the company and its offerings.
Job Type: Full‑time/hybrid
Responsibilities- Build out the brokerage division through ambitious sales tactics and provide operational support to provide an excellent customer experience.
- Prospect for and identify new customers for the company’s brokerage.
- Identify customer pain points and offer logistics solutions to add value to their business.
- Negotiate rates with customers to fit their needs and drive profitability for the company.
- Inspire and lead direct reports (currently two: one Customer Sales and one Carrier Sales Representative) to provide exceptional service and promote the company’s value.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for brokerage and asset‑based operations, including ideation and implementation of new processes.
- Identify workforce needs, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions to benefit the future of the organization.
- Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment.
- 7-10+ years of related industry sales and operations experience.
- 7+ years of proven success leading a team.
- Subject matter expert in the 3PL/brokerage space.
- Prior Haz Mat & Pharmaceuticals experience/exposure is preferred.
- Current knowledge of industry and market trends.
- Strong problem solving abilities and flexibility to adapt to market conditions.
- Driven and self‑motivated individual with a sales hunter mentality.
- Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills - oral, written, and over the phone.
- Polished and professional individual who is a fierce negotiator and a natural leader.
- Embraces change, brings innovative ideas, and has demonstrated capability to implement strategies and grow a brokerage organization.
This position offers a competitive base salary + commission.
