Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.Informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.Checks product quality to ensure freshness, reviews "sell by" dates, and takes appropriate action.Provides customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.Recommends grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.Labels, stocks, and inventories department merchandise.Reports product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.Stays current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.Adheres to all food safety regulations and guidelines.Ensures proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.Gains and maintains knowledge of products sold within the department and responds to questions and makes suggestions about products.Creates an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and store.Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, notifying store management.Practices preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate personnel of repairs.Notifies management of customer or employee accidents.Works cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.Manages conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.Acts with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.Follows directions and seeks assistance when necessary to resolve issues.Supports and assists through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.Performs essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
