Operator Mechanic

Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) is currently searching for an Operator Mechanic for our Creston, Iowa location. This position is responsible for general site and plant maintenance and general plant operations. The work schedule is a rotating shift and regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Duties:

• Maintain grounds and buildings at the Summit Lake plant site, pump houses, and distributed generation and solar sites
• Operate and maintain site vehicles and mobile equipment such as skid loaders, forklifts, telehandlers, man lifts, lawn mowers, tractors, etc.
• Operate and control all engines, turbines, generators, emissions control equipment, compressors, pumps, fans, and other auxiliaries to respond to dispatch requirements
• Monitor temperatures, pressures, fluid levels, fluid flows, as well as electrical voltages, currents, and power
• Maintain, inspect, and clean generating plant equipment and auxiliaries
• Document and record maintenance work

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED
• Vocational training for mechanical and/or electrical systems, or equivalent work experience, especially with heavy machinery
• Successfully complete technical training as directed and provided by CIPCO
