As a Heavy Highway Estimator, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the roads, bridges, and infrastructure that keep communities moving. This is your chance to turn technical precision and problem‑solving into projects that make a lasting impact.
What You'll Do- Review bid documents to define project scope and requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity take‑offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Develop accurate, competitive pricing and ensure timely bid submission.
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners.
- Attend pre‑bid meetings and manage post‑award buy‑out processes.
- Support WBE/MBE/DBE participation efforts and maintain estimating best practices.
- Stay current with estimating tools and technology, including HCSS Heavy Bid and other software.
- Detail‑oriented and committed to accuracy in every estimate.
- Think like a builder—anticipating challenges and finding practical solutions.
- Self‑motivated, organized, and accountable for deadlines and results.
- Strong communicator who builds trust with teammates, clients, and partners.

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy highway or civil construction.
- Proven success bidding self‑performed work — including concrete, earthwork, utilities, and structures.
- Familiarity with MoDOT and other DOT/municipal standards (required).
- Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid or similar estimating software.
- Strong understanding of unit‑price estimating and production‑driven costs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat; AGTEK and Oracle P6 experience a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a team‑first mindset.
