Project Engineering Manager - Water/Wastewater
Black & Veatch is an employee‑owned company dedicated to addressing humanity’s biggest challenges through sustainable infrastructure. This role focuses on managing the engineering component of water and wastewater projects.
OpportunityLead the engineering execution of multiple traditional, design‑build, and collaborative delivery projects, including advanced treatment facilities, underground conveyance, and carbon‑neutral solutions.
- Lead a multi‑discipline team of engineers and technicians on high‑profile municipal projects.
- Supervise and mentor engineering staff, identifying developmental growth opportunities.
- Manage budgets, scheduling, and correspondence with clients and project management.
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables for large or multiple projects.
- Research and recommend equipment and materials.
- Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines.
- Lead production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as responsible charge for a project.
- Identify key client interests and drivers for moderately complex projects.
- Communicate client concerns to project team members and develop solutions.
- Provide support for business development or pursuit activities.
- Manage project changes directly with the client under Project Manager supervision.
- Lead large multi‑discipline teams to meet project deliverables.
- Provide input to technical leadership for complex water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Drive solutions to achieve project goals.
- Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.
- Mentor and perform performance management of assigned personnel.
- PE license.
- Previous engineering consulting experience.
- Experience executing multi‑discipline WTP and WWTP upgrades and expansion projects.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- All applicants must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search, etc.).
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days.
- Sitting/standing/computer usage for extended periods of time.
- Ability to utilize video/audio conferencing software tools for internal/external communication.
- Travel to client sites.
