Certified Medical Assistant - East Pod at GoHealth Urgent Care. Mercy and GoHealth Urgent Care have partnered to operate urgent care centers across the St. Louis, MO area. • Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider.
• Manage check-in and registration, interview patients, and record information in patient charts.
• Measure vital signs and prepare treatment rooms for examination.
• Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis (as required).
• Register patients, verify insurance, process co-pays, and update medical records.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate specialist referrals; answer patient inquiries and inform staff of patient flow.
• Record medical history, take vitals, escalate critical cases, and perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, ECG).
• Perform phlebotomy and administer injections as needed; maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and manage inventory.
• Scan/update documents, answer phones, handle mail, and perform patient follow-up; maintain reception area.
• Handle opening/closing duties, cash management, and secure the building; conduct daily equipment checks and submit repair tickets.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
• One of the following certifications is required: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA (verified through respective certifying bodies).
• In lieu of an approved MA certification, LPN or RN or EMT may be accepted at time of hire.
• Basic medical assisting duties, ability to type quickly, basic computer knowledge; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Detail-oriented, able to rely on experience and judgment, work as part of a team, and communicate effectively with diverse patients.
