About the RoleThe role is for a Planning Officer within Development Management. You will manage a varied caseload of planning applications from householder applications to small‑scale residential and commercial developments. You will also be responsible for the lifecycle of the planning process, including discharge of conditions and appeals, and will have the opportunity to learn from more senior planners on major developments and appeals.
Collaboration with specialists in urban design, landscape design, transport and highways, ecology, built heritage and archaeology ensures positive outcomes.
- Team player with the skills and experience to successfully manage a caseload of planning applications and provide pre‑application advice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders in the planning process.
- Organised with an eye for detail, possessing excellent report writing and IT skills.
- Enjoys problem solving and working to deadlines.
- Customer focused and driven to develop professionally as a planning officer.
- Qualified to degree level and ideally eligible for RTPI membership.
- Passionate about and committed to sustainable place‑making.
- A competitive salary – £35,412 to £39,152 per annum with guaranteed yearly pay increases.
