Year 5 Teaching Assistant (TA) - Specialist Support for Two Autistic Students



Location:

Crewe, Cheshire Term Time Only ASAP Start Full Time (9:00 - 3:15)

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and patient Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team, supporting two autistic students in a nurturing and structured environment.

Role Overview

In this vital role, you will work one-on-one with two Pupils in Year 5, providing consistent support to help them navigate school life with confidence. As their key Primary TA, you'll assist them with day-to-day tasks, adapting academic content to ensure it is accessible, manageable, and enjoyable. Additionally, you will provide them with coping strategies to manage any stress or sensory challenges they may face in the school environment.

You will also work closely with small groups of students for phonics and other academic interventions, helping them build strong foundational skills and boosting their confidence across subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored, 1:1 support for two autistic students, helping them stay engaged and calm in the classroom.
  • Modify and adapt lesson content to meet individual needs, making tasks manageable and enjoyable.
  • Guide students in managing and reducing stress, especially during transition times and new experiences.
  • Work with small groups on phonics and targeted academic interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Year 5 teacher and SENCO to align on progress and strategies.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in SEN support (preferably with autistic students) within a primary school setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting children's learning and development.
