This vacancy at The Axis Academyis an outstanding and unique opportunity for the right person to become a fully functional, multiskilled member of a highly inclusive and collaborative teamthat strives to change the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) through all that we do. You will be working inour newly formed KS4 Ignite pathway group which supports pupils in accessing amore bespoke KS4 curriculum including a focus on life skills, work experience,functional skills and alternative qualifications.
Within this group, pupil shave a wide variety of needs including both academic and SEMH needs. Therefore,the successful candidate needs to have a flexible, creative approach to learning and the ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with allpupils.

- Support the vision and direction of the school
- Support teachers and Learning Mentors to deliver an engaging specialist curriculum within the academy for an alternative pathway for KS4 pupils.
- Support and facilitate effective learning and teaching for KS4 pupils accessing the pathway.
- Deployand create resources efficiently and effectively to meet specific objectives inline with the needs of the group.
- Ensure effective pastoral care and behaviour support for the KS4 group.
- Adopt a therapeutic approach, understanding the individual needs of the whole child.
- As a Teaching Assistant of The Axis Academy,you will support teaching staff to ensure effective teaching and learning withinthe KS4 pathway group, ensuring that you support pupil needs. He/shewill:
- Support teaching staff to ensure high quality teaching is delivered to students. Thiswill be across a number of subject areas.
- Support teaching staff to provide and maintain an environment and behavior for learning which promotes and secures good teaching, effective learning and high standards of achievement
- Tosupport the curriculum and its assessment; work with the teachers and Learning Mentors to monitor and evaluate it in order to identify areas for improvement
- Tosupport students with their emotional health and wellbeing taking atherapeutic approach
- Todevelop key relationships with students and parents and carers
- Toengage in outreach to ensure all our students needs are met
- Seek opportunities to invite parents and carers, into The Axis Academy to enrich student experience and to promote The Axis Academy’s value to the wider community
- Collaborate with staff, to actively promote the British values, academic, spiritual, moral,social, emotional and cultural well-being of students and their families
- Tohelp ensure that health and safety standards meet statutory requirements,monitoring health and safety matters within the school, particularly ensuring that all members of the staff take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others
- Tohelp ensure that Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures and Department of Health assessments of Children in Need are rigorously complied with, and thatthe welfare and health and safety of students are of prime consideration
- Topromote the safety and well-being of students and staff
- Toensure good order and behaviour of students and staff
- Engage with CPD opportunities in order to effectively fulfil your role and achieve thebest possible outcomes for our students.
