Overview
Working in Partnership with a Wonderful Mainstream Primary School in Crewe

Astro Education is proud to be working in close partnership with a warm, inclusive and supportive mainstream primary school in Crewe to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant
.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, nurturing and committed to supporting young children with additional needs within a mainstream school setting.
About the Role & ChildrenYou will be supporting a small group of approximately 10 children
, from Reception to Year 2, all of whom have significant developmental delay
.
Some children are pre-verbal
, and several present with Autism
. The children are taught within a carefully structured environment led by a class teacher
, supported by two Teaching Assistants (this role being one of them) and a Welfare Assistant.
Although this is a mainstream school
, the provision is calm, well-resourced and thoughtfully organised to meet the children's individual needs while remaining closely connected to the wider school community.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support children 1:1 and in small groups
- Help develop communication, interaction and early learning skills
- Support emotional regulation, routines and transitions
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
- Create a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment
- Support personal care where required, always with dignity and respect
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with EYFS / KS1 children
- Has experience of, or a strong interest in, supporting children with Autism and developmental delay
- Is calm, patient, flexible and emotionally attuned
- Understands the importance of consistency, routine and relationship-based practice
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively
Experience in SEN, Autism or Early Years is highly desirable, but attitude, empathy and commitment are equally important.

- Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm (term time only)
- Pay: £90-£100 per day, depending on experience
- Contract: Long-term opportunity
