Apprentice Quantity Surveyor
We are seeking an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to provide technical and administrative support to the Commercial Team on the Cheshire East Highways Contract. The role involves working closely with operational teams and subcontractors, offering hands‑on exposure to the commercial management of highways works. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience and develop a strong understanding of commercial processes, with opportunities over time to contribute to target cost development, estimating and pricing activities.
The Role- Follow schemes closely during delivery, providing support and advice on change management and ensuring that all formal Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events are raised, negotiated and agreed.
- Commercial responsibility for allocated works completed under the Cheshire East Highways Contract as reasonably required.
- Timely and diligent contract administration.
- Procurement of supply chain partners.
- Develop strong working relationships with the design, operational delivery and Client commissioning teams, reporting on costs, assist in forecasting and managing budgets, and raising subcontractor purchase orders.
- Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- An interest in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying related to civil engineering and highways.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to use Microsoft applications – Word, Teams & Excel.
- Commitment to work towards an appropriate qualification in Commercial Management and/or Quantity Surveying and to pursue membership of a relevant professional institution.
