Head of Finance
Location:
Crewe, hybrid (2 days office, 3 days remote)
Salary: £85k + Benefits
Working Pattern:
Full-time, 37.5 hrs per week
Duration: 14-16 months contract (salaried)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Finance to join a market‑leading engineering and services business during a significant period of growth and transformation. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial leadership, commercial insight, and robust governance across the business.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership:
Partner with senior leadership to develop and deliver the medium and long‑term growth strategy - Financial
Risk Management:
Identify key financial risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate action plans are in place - Business Development & Transformation:
Support business development initiatives, transformation projects, and operational improvements - Financial Insight & Challenge:
Provide financial insight to support strategic decision making - Financial Performance & Control:
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning activities; oversee production of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting; deliver meaningful financial analysis and KPI reporting; ensure strong financial controls, governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks are maintained - Audit & Governance:
Manage internal and external audit requirements - Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
Lead, develop, and mentor the finance team, building capability and succession plans; work closely with executive leadership and wider group stakeholders; foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and commercial awareness; drive collaboration and best practice across finance and operational teams
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Significant senior finance leadership experience within a commercial or operational environment
- Strong background in financial planning, reporting, controls, and business partnering
- Demonstrable experience supporting growth, transformation, and change initiatives
- Commercially astute with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing high‑performing teams
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
