Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP) are looking for a positive and motivated Band 6 Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to join our pelvic health team in the Community Bladder & Bowel Service. This team is expanding to support an ever‑evolving demand for Pelvic Health in our growing patient population. It is essential that candidates have a keen interest in pelvic floor health and conditions associated with pelvic floor dysfunction to support and shape the team going forward to meet the service need and expectations of patients and best practice guidelines.

You will be working alongside our experienced Pelvic health Physiotherapists, consisting of a Band 7 Clinical Lead, two band 6 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists, Community Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurses, Acute trust Obstetric, Urogynecology, Urology and Colorectal teams.

Our outpatient clinics are held in community settings across the CCICP area, therefore, you may be required to work in more than one clinical base. Clinic appointments are held individually or in group settings.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team of specialist physiotherapists providing a comprehensive out‑patient Physiotherapy service in Pelvic Health and have an active role regarding the further development of the service and completion of clinical audits.

There is the potential for this post to be taken as a 12 month Secondment or training post.

Main duties of the job
  • To act as a Clinical Specialist, providing specialist assessment and treatment for male and female patients who may have complex presentations of pelvic floor dysfunction in an outpatient setting. Referrals include bladder, bowel and/or gynaecological symptoms.
  • To demonstrate advanced communication skills when treating complex patients, for whom embarrassment and/or anxiety may provide a barrier to communication.
  • Due to the specialist nature of this field within physiotherapy, the post holder will be provided with in‑house and external training to develop appropriate competencies, including conducting internal vaginal and anorectal examinations.
  • Using evidence‑based principles / current best practice, specialist skills and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, and deliver individualised treatment programmes.
  • To assist the Clinical Team Lead, Specialist Nurses, and pelvic health physiotherapist in the day‑to‑day running of clinics. Attend MDT meetings. Assist with service development and involvement in service improvement initiatives.
  • To participate in the development and promotion of the service within primary and secondary care settings.
  • Assist with the supervision, education and support of junior staff, assistants, and external students on placement when applicable.
