Cloud and Infrastructure Operations Manager (AWS)
- Full-time
Lead and evolve our global AWS infrastructure
We're looking for an experienced Cloud & Infrastructure Operations Manager to take ownership of our global cloud platforms, with a particular focus on our AWS environment.
Reporting directly to the CIO, this is a key leadership role within our IT Operations department, with responsibility for the reliability, performance, security and scalability of our core infrastructure services. You'll lead people across Tech Ops, Sys Ops, Networks and Voice, whilst remaining closely involved in technical decision-making and infrastructure strategy.
Please note: This is not a purely people-management position. We're specifically looking for a candidate with strong hands-on AWS expertise who can provide technical leadership, challenge existing approaches, drive improvements and act as a recognised cloud subject matter expert.
This role is based from our Crewe offices alongside the team.
What you'll be doing…- Owning the operational management of our cloud infrastructure, with AWS at the heart of our environment.
- Ensuring cloud platforms and infrastructure services remain secure, resilient, scalable and highly available.
- Leading and developing teams responsible for Tech Ops, Sys Ops, networking and voice services.
- Driving operational excellence through automation, monitoring and proactive service management.
- Managing cloud security, performance optimisation and cost efficiency across the AWS estate.
- Overseeing enterprise network services, including cloud networking, WAN, VPN and data centre connectivity.
- Supporting and improving our Five9 voice and telephony environment.
- Leading major incident response and driving improvements to reliability and service resilience.
- Working closely with Cyber Security, Platform Services and other senior technology stakeholders to continually improve our infrastructure landscape.
- Proven AWS infrastructure experience in complex enterprise environments.
- Experience leading infrastructure, cloud or operations teams.
- Deep understanding of AWS architecture, cloud networking and security best practices.
- Experience managing highly available, business-critical infrastructure services.
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling.
- Experience implementing monitoring, observability and operational tooling.
- Experience managing major incidents and operational service delivery.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security principles and governance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Exposure to Azure environments.
- Enterprise networking expertise across LAN, WAN, VPN and cloud networking.
- Experience with SRE or reliability engineering practices.
- ITIL-based service management experience.
- Experience supporting modern development teams with infrastructure and platform services.
- Experience with voice or contact‑centre technologies such as Five9 and SIP services.
- You are currently a Cloud Manager, Cloud Operations Manager, Infrastructure Operations Manager or Senior AWS Engineer with leadership responsibilities.
- You enjoy leading teams while staying technically engaged.
- You can comfortably discuss AWS architecture, security, networking, resilience and optimisation at a deep technical level.
- You are passionate about automation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- You want the opportunity to influence infrastructure strategy whilst remaining close to the technology.
You’ll be an important contributor to the IT operations that run our entire global business.
